Apprenticeship Description; 

Groundworkers are the first trade onto a construction and civil engineering site and they work closely with supervisors and engineers in interpreting design specifications to prepare the site ready for the structural building works to take place. They continue their work throughout the construction phase, working with all on-site construction trades, such as bricklayers and plant operatives, up to and including the final completion activities of the project. Groundworkers can transfer between heavy construction and civil engineering sites as well as house building, commercial building and general building sites. 

Entry Requirements; 

Qualifications – Individuals without Level 1 English and maths will need to achieve this level and take the test for Level 2 English and maths prior to taking the End Point Assessment. 

Behaviour/Characteristics : You will attend college one day a week and the other four will be on site. You must be dedicated to starting and completing this apprenticeship. Be able to manage your time, follow instructions, and work as part of a team. Be willing to travel. Have basic computer skills.  

If Successful; 

  • You will receive a fully funded apprenticeship with experience on site and the college qualification 

  • Minimum of 35 hours a week working on site and a day at college 

  • You will be paid a wage for all hours worked and spent at college 

  • Statutory Pension and Statutory Leave 

  • Potential for continued employment or help gaining employment through our Employee Assistance Programme
