Brief overview

We are looking for Waltham Forest borough residents who are interested in completing a Level 4 Quantity Surveying Apprenticeship. The candidate will spend 36 months working as a Construction Quantity Surveying Apprentice as part of the CITB Shared Apprenticeship Scheme. Employed by Evolve Apprentices, while earning a wage, gaining work experience and qualifications.

£4.81 – 9.50 (National Minimum Wage)

Statutory Sick and Holiday Pay + Bank Holiday Pay, automatic enrolment into the NEST Pension Scheme, Bike2Work Scheme partners, Apprenticeship Oyster Card available for first-year travel discounts, NUS Discount Card, course costs covered by Evolve.

Monday-Friday, some weekends. Minimum of 35 – 45 hours per week but the potential for more. Approx. 8 am-5 pm but hours will be confirmed by the contractor after successfully passing the Stage 1 & 2 Interview.

What will the apprentice be doing?

Construction quantity surveyors estimate and control costs for large construction projects. They make sure that structures meet legal and quality standards.

The job role of a construction quantity surveyor involves the following duties:

  • Estimating quantities, costs and time scales for material and labour
  • Preparing tender and contract documents
  • Ensuring projects meet legal and quality standards
  • Valuing completed work, managing budgets, and overseeing payments
  • Advising on the maintenance costs of specific buildings
  • Submitting regular budget reports

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The qualification you would be working for is the Level 4 Surveying Technician (Standard) where we will be looking to partner with colleges to provide the training.

This training will mainly be through remote learning with paid study time as needed up to 7 hours/1 day per week. You are expected to travel if needed for training and assessments. You will be responsible for managing/arranging with your line manager.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

On completion of this apprenticeship, you can work as a qualified Assistant Quantity Surveyor where, with more experience, you can look to progress into a senior position and/or complete a degree-level qualification.

You will be eligible for the Supervisor (Gold) CSCS Card after completion of your apprenticeship.
