Brief overview
We are looking for Southwark borough residents who are interested in completing a Level 2 Bricklaying apprenticeship. The successful candidate will spend 30 months working as a Brickwork Apprentice as part of the CITB Shared Apprenticeship Scheme. Employed by Evolve Apprentices while earning a wage, gaining experience, and qualifications.

- Hourly wage
£4.81 – £9.50 National Minimum Wage or £11.95 London Living Wage (depends on the construction site)
Statutory Sick and Holiday Pay + Bank Holiday Pay, automatic enrolment into the NEST Pension Scheme, Apprenticeship Oyster Card available for first-year travel discounts, NUS Discount Card, course costs covered by Evolve
- Working week
Monday-Friday, weekends may be an option. Minimum of 35 hours per week but the potential for more. Approx. 8 am-5 pm but hours will be confirmed by the contractor after successfully passing the Stage 1 & 2 Interviews.

What will the apprentice be doing?
The main duties and tasks of a Bricklaying Apprentice are:
- General labouring, tidying of site, and tool/equipment fetching
- Mixing and turning mortar, loading boards
- Moving, stacking and passing bricks
- Laying of bricks and blocks
Bricklayers lay bricks, blocks, and other types of building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and other structures e.g., chimney stacks. They might also refurbish brickwork and masonry on restoration projects.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The qualification you would be working for is the Level 2 Brickwork (Standard) where we will be looking to partner with Multi Trade Training to provide the training.
This training will mainly be through remote learning with paid study time as needed up to 7 hours/1 per days per week. You are expected to travel when necessary for training and/or assessments. You will be responsible for managing/arranging with your line manager.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On completion of this apprenticeship, you can progress into a Level 3 Advanced Bricklaying qualification or seek work as a qualified Trainee Bricklayer where, with more experience, you can look to progress into a senior bricklaying position, site/contracts/project management, self-employment, or brickwork business owner
You will be eligible for the Skilled Worker (Blue) CSCS Card after the level 2 qualification

GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 1-3 / Level 1) desired
GCSE or equivalent Mathematics (Grade 1-3 / Level 1) desired
CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) Operative test (passed within 2 years) essential
Level 1 Certificate in Health & Safety in a Construction Environment (passed) desired
CSCS Card (valid) desired
